sure we had a similar post recently, as I said then, the only reason I never became a pro was that I couldn't get the hang of no hands, so no team wanted me as I couldn't do my shirt up for the stage wins

No problem, either on or off road. But I can empathise with those who can't and the terror it evokes as I recently started to do no hands on the rollers. It took a while to build up the bottle though.

Like others i haven't done it since my teens. Well i have, for about 10 seconds but i had my hands hovering closely over the bars just in case. I always cringe when i see a rider on tv throwing his hands up as he approaches the finishing line, half expecting him to fall off before he crosses that line. :B)
That's your problem, Accy. By leaning over the bars your weight distribution is all wrong, you need to sit bolt upright. In my youth I could remove a top over my head and put it in my jersey pocket while I rode, no doubt I could still manage it but confidence decreases with age and bones become more brittle so I wouldn't try.

Easy as a child and it took me a few miles to master it again as an adult, but happy to say that I can take off a gilet, zip it up and place in a jersey pocket.

I do it often on the roadie just to take the weight of wrists shoulders and straighten the old back..
it can be intresting on the mtb mind

So if i sit upright the front wheel will stay pointing forward and wont suddenly turn if i hit a small pothole or a small stone?

No hands - easy.

A few years ago when Silverstone held the first international race on the current version of the track, they opened it up on the Friday evening for the public to ride around. At the time I had a Dahon Espresso and did a complete lap of the circuit no handed.
