There are a few members here that will easily cover that distance or more for a Sunday London Ride, do 30-50miles on the SLR then ride all the way back home... I honestly dont see how some folk can manage it.

To put it in perspective I think the same guy completed the DD ride in about 6-7hours and the ride is about 110-120miles long. personally I took double that but i was mickey mousing about a lot with breaks. I am totally in awe. (I think its @ianrauk)
It's straightforward enough really (says the guy who rode 157 miles to Cardiff for the Welsh FNRttC three years back…). Ride your bike a lot, eat and drink properly, rinse and repeat.

If you become bilingual km/miles then your next distance milestone is never very far away: 25mi (40k), 50k (31mi), 50mi (80k), 100k (62mi), 75mi (120k), 150k (93mi), 100mi and so on. And the constant mental arithmetic working out the next milestone takes your mind off things.

The ride home is only 17 miles and seeing as the SLR is at a slowish, conversational pace, it's no great shakes adding the extra mileage.

I have never done the DD. It's not a ride for me.
