Well done Bob :wahhey:

I was going to ask how long is it since you started (I remember welcoming you to the forum and giving you a few words of encouragement) but as you say, it was just 10 short months ago so a fantastic achievement.

Keep up the good work.

By the way.....i used to love Skol, a while ago now tho

Yes, I know. I've been wanting to catch you up for a while. It should be possible now I've got a saddle that I can do more than 40 miles on without it feeling like a mediaeval torture device. :giggle:

Mind that definitely is a major part of cycling, i could'nt manage more than 25 miles for a good while until i changed my saddle to one that actually fit my my fat arse ha ha

I've taken a punt on a Brooks. The first 200 miles weren't much fun but it's breaking in now and seems to be getting better each ride.^_^

Last time I did over 50 on the Spoon previously fitted, I ended up standing a lot of the last 10 miles. It was a bit off-putting.;)

Cheers DaveyM, i'm using the Crosstrail to do the C2C so i can use that Granny gear when needed (probably most of the time ha ha) as oppose to the Compact on my Road bike, i'll give a report after we've done it no problem.

I am thinking about using the tricross with armidillo 28's on some people say this will be fine, would appreciate your feedback pal.

Any decently geared bike will do the C2C. I've never weighed less than 23 stones when doing the C2C and have completed it on:

A 12 speed Raleigh Equipe unsuitably geared but with 700c x 25 tyres
A 21 speed Dawes Galaxy with 700 x 28 tyres
A 24 speed Ridgeback hybrid with 700 x 35 tyres
A 27 speed Dawes Galaxy with 700 x 25 tyres

The bike that I struggled on the most was the first one because of the high gearing.

I didn't really notice that much difference in ride quality with the other three bikes. Armadillos will be fine. I've used them as well as Panaracer Pasela Tourguards.
