Good luck and don't rush things. Too much too soon and you'll end up injuring yourself again.

Also remember that turbos are hard as you don't have the luxury of freewheeling when needing a breather and you don't have the fresh air to cool you down.

There's no obligation to keep pedalling whilst on a turbo - so 'stopping for a breather' is perfectly feasible. A fan would also be a sensible addition to aid with cooling, if you don't have one already.

As B'n'Y says, you can freewheel on the turbo, or stop completelly if you so wish you can even freewheel on a set of rollers to some degree. A big fan is essential, top tip, freeze a couple of bottles of water and stand them in front of the fan to get an even cooler breeze.

If you do what I do and don't heat the ground floor of the house, that is overkill!

It is pretty amazing how much heat you can generate on a hard turbo session. I used to start my winter sessions in the unheated room with a long-sleeved jersey and a padded gilet on, and the fan switched off. After 5 minutes, the gilet would come off, then the jersey after another 5 minutes or so. Soon after that, I'd switch the fan on at half speed and after another couple of minutes switch it to full speed.

The sweat would be pouring off me - sometimes at more than 1 litre per hour. In fact, I rotted through my first turbo trainer in a couple of winters. I used to wipe the top of it after use, but I hadn't realised that salty sweat was dripping round to the underside and corroding it!

Maybe found his max heart rate or he's got the winter bug going round!
I came very close to throwing up on the bike once. I got a younger colleague into cycling and for a few months I was fitter than him, but eventually his fitness caught up and then his relative youth began to tell. One evening after work we set off up the Cragg Vale climb and he wound up the pressure right from the foot of the climb in Mytholmroyd. It got harder and harder to stay with him and by the time we got to the reservoir at the top I had tunnel vision, a maxed out heart rate and was very close to hurling. I suppose that is what time triallists do themselves every time they race! xx(
