Long cable with your D Lock?

I got a Kryptonite D_lock with 4ft cable for a trip into Leeds in Oct, put D-lock around frame and rear wheel a cable through the front wheel and lock attached to railings in front of the entrance where people were coming and going and in view of reception. It is the only time i have had to resort to such a lock, as usually the bike is never left for more than 15-20mins with my cable lock.

Thanks, the only time go though is if I am off to the Hospitial so I am never more than an hour or so, and I know there is always a chance.
