Well eventually it will blend in I suppose.

Painting it will be a bit like the Forth Rail Bridge tho'.

Why not fund a bunch of Velodromes around the country instead - Sporting legacy

It's even the same colour

Good point about the Veolodromes.

probably the most apt comment. The Parisiens hated the Eiffel tower at first.

Many people do hate such landmarks when structures that imposing are built. A lot of New Yorkers didn't like the Twin Towers when they first went up. The difference is whether it does have the ability to become something which will be eventually admired.

I kinda like it. I'm not 100% sure. I think it needs to be massive, or it'll look messy. Being larger will give it more definition, whereas if they chicken out and down scale it, you won't see clean lines.

Designed by Anish Kapoor and paid for by a steel magnate. I'm really unsure as to whether it's really cool or really crass or both. What do youse think?

How many more bulging phalluses do we need!

That age of greater height = greater success has passed. The societal principles behind it are disproved and redundant (Glasgow anyone?) Yet, around the world, it seems that the only architectural and progressive statement people can make is to have something at odds with humanity, under a misconstrued ideology of power.

The bigger you are, the harder you fall, build for beauty and purpose, not bravado. This isn't some tin-pot Eastern state.

Bloody fools!
