Is there such a thing as an ap that'd let you display your location on a website? I know aps like MapMyRide track your route etc but is there something that'd let folk actually view your progress as you were doing a ride?

If not then someone needs to invent one.

If you have an iphone then find my iphone will show your location but doesn't show the route you have been on

I know that strava premium shows when someone is on a ride but unsure if it does live tracking with route

Android and IOS have apps available to do this. Let the phone ping your location, instead of the bike app

Garmin Fit App runs Live Track, available for iPhone & android. You invite people to watch by e-mailing them a link and you can be watched on a computer and probably a smartphone. It gives location, speed & elevation.
The App cost 69p, then you subscribe monthly or annually (about £1.50 & £15.00 if I remember rightly.

Yes endomondo. I use it for commuting and night riding on my own as then my partner can see where I am.

Runtastic Pro does this as well, but not the free version. (you don't need to have the subscription, just the paid for app which I think was £2.99 or something for Lumia)

It's also two way, so my kids can send emotes and stuff to my phone.... they love it but after 200 airhorns it gets annoying

Correct me if i am wrong, but doesn't endomondo eat up your battery, so hypothetically you could have a flat battery on a long ride, and your partner could see last known position, but you now have a dead phone which is useless in raising someone for assistance?

MMR does have live tracking but it only works when you pay , tried it the other day and didn't work so refered to website and its an MVP option

Any phone using the GPS will eat the battery and yes when my phone went dead on a run the other day & my partner lost track of me....
There are things you can do to extend battery life like turning off bluetooth and the wifi which help. My 2.5yr old iPhone4 lasted OK yesterday when I was out for 5 hours going from 100% charged to about 55% and that included checking my maps a couple of times and taking a few photos.
I've ordered a battery extender pack to make the phone last longer for some planned long rides soon.
