As my bike is due to go into the workshop to have its crank etc swapped out my Brother-in-Law has very kindly loaned me his MTB. It's a Everest Freespirit 'Hardtail'. Must say after a short ride it is rather nice. It's not a lot of money for a 2008 model either. Anyone had any longer term experience with this model / brand.

You're on here, the bug has bitten and if that one feels nice imagine how much nicer a more expensive one would feel. If you're spending and that's the budget go 2nd hand, you know it makes sense.

That's the thing; I can't really afford anything at the mo, but was wondering about making my Brother-in-Law an offer for his :-)

I have had a ride on a £2K alloy framed MTB and it feels like riding on air. The owner of that bike picked it up for £400 (lucky git!!!)

I know about riding on a budget. Used to source a lot of my spares from skips, re-built my own wheels (that was when I discovered you had to build them round as well as straight ), so yes understand where you are coming from and making the best of available resources.

This might sound harsh but I wouldn't pay too much for it, otherwise you'd be better saving your pennies for the future. Say maybe a bit more than the repair on your Apollo (£50/60 was it?).

Cheers. Yes the work I am having done on the Apollo Kaos will be £55 ish. I will spend some more time on it tomorrow and than have a serious think about what to do. I know if I ask him he'll say I can have it on extended loan but that will make me feel lousy. (Does that make sense??)
