Little hand on Edge Touring?

Morning. Just got an Edge Touring on Thursday and absolutely love it. Got it mostly figured (it's pretty simple) but still not sure what the little hand does on the map page or how you use it. Any tips anyone?

Puts the map into a free view mode so you can look around it, zoom in/out etc at a point you're currently not.

ie: looking for a post office in a village 5miles away

Its a bit like the mouse on a PC.
