It's true, but I had to flip the stems on my bikes the other way for a more upright position.

Well actually may sound strange but i used to get pains in my quads. Now i haven't done any major miles yet just a couple to the shop and back but it felt a lot better. Before i changed it i felt a little scrunched up behind the bars by changing it, it changes the angle and therefore length from the seat to the bars. It may help your girlfriend but i cant guarantee anything.

I won't mock like the rest of them, it's not the seat post but the handle bar stem i flipped the seat post will just make it very uncomfortable.

I don't know what the Latin thing is about on CycleChat the past few days! I'm afraid that I only studied it for one year and then decided that talking to living Germans made more sense to me than reading about dead Romans!

Anyway - agricolae non saepe bene cantant - which is why you don't see more of them on 'X factor'!

Oh, and - hic Haroldus rex interfectus est!

If she uses clipless pedals it will likely be cleat position wrong, if she is a small person, it could well be the cranks are too long for her, (crank length should be approx one fifth of inside leg length).
