I got to work this morning to hear that one of the guys I work with had pulled out of a road end and hit a cyclist. So the guy didn't appear to be hurt but my colleague talked him into going to A&E just to be sure. So my colleague went with him and stayed all day to make sure he was OK (several hours to be seen!!) Turns out the guy is OK. Then my colleague gave the guy £300 in cash!!

If I hadn't heard it from him myself I wouldn't believe it. I've been hit 3 times by drivers at fault and only one of them stopped, never mind giving me £300!!!

Blimey! How well do you know this chap, do you reckon he was genuinely shocked and remorseful, or keen to avoid litigation with an out of court settlement? The fact that he went to A and E with the guy suggests genuine concern, I must say. Good for him. And hopefully next time, he'll look a bit more carefully...;)

So was the bike alright?

Really nice gesture! Should congratulate him!

Probably a bit of both - the cyclist could claim for the time being wasted, but it sounds like he was being nice!

If the cyclist had been wearing a helmet camera, he'd have got £600! ;)

I'm sure you can recreate the collision with some of your cycling choreography chums and then send it to the both parties. ..

Three grand to be precise!;)

It was Maggers driving the car though wasn't it.

Actually, looking back over my 'conversations' with col, I didn't realise that what he was trying to do was to hint to me that there was money to be made in filming my incidents. I'm a judo player, I know how to fall safely, add to that one of those inflatable motorcycling jacket inflatable thingys and I'd be invincible.

Before I go out, do some theatrical make up on my body, you know, deep gouges, severe bruising, etc. Fake an incident, as col has point out I already do that anyway so I should be good at it(;)), except this time do a Starsky and Hutch type roll over the bonnet! Point out my camera to shocked driver, and Bobs yer uncle, I'm in the money! Waaayheeey! ;)

Hmmm...Methinks your colleague is uninsured or doesn't have a driving licence!

Joking.

I wouldn't mind 300 quid.

I wish I didn't think there was someone out there who see this and think "Thats a good idea..."

(magnatom's idea)

maz come to york, I'll hire a car, hit you gently, and give you three hundred quid.

Sadly, as I'm very skint, you'd have to lend me the £300. And pay for the car hire....

That's fine, I've just patented it, so they'd owe me royalties! ;)

Last year after leaving work i got doored heading along the parade (glasgow), now looking back on the incident i blame myself for it as it was 3pm and right outside a school, i was going at quite a good speed coming off a hill and there was a bus on the outside of me i stupidly pulled in a bit as being new to cycling thought this was the norm, anyway i hit the guy's door with such force my front wheel was folded in half around the front forks and i hit the ground so hard that bits of my t-shirt were burned into my skin, the guy was totally stunned and couldnt stop apologising, i told him i was phoning the police but there and then he produced £400 straight from his wallet which i am sad to say i took rather than wait for police, ins etc as i should have done because i still have scars even though it was last summer.
