Ed, is your one the same diamond-shaped configuration which won't pinch a cable along the top centre, CX-style?
yep diamond shaped clamp
is the cable along toptube associated with CX?

In my head it is! I think it's often like that for frequent shouldering on a cyclocross bike. And maybe it's also sheltered a little from track muck being thrown up.
many road bikes with out internal routing have it and many MTB's without internal routing have it otherwise you have 3 cables going down down tube and over BB
my hybrid has a cable under the top tube, my bros vintage road bike has cable under top tube, my other bros 'MTB' has it, my dads 'MTB' has it and my mums vintage/classic tourer/hybrid has it so i don't think it is possible to associate this with CX!

yes sorry we are both talking cyclo cross and as soon as i posted above b***ox i started to doubt my self so went and google cyco cross cable routing and yes i see what you are on about ABOVE the top tube i was on about the normal under the toptube

just ignore my last post it was rubbish :sad:
