How can the be over already? It's been a fantastic set of spring classics this year and there's one more to go. LBL just conjours up the days of real hard men riders wearing caps and spare inner tubes who'd stop at nothing, but who's going to come out on top?
Looking at the team sheets, there's a number of names who spring out as people who have been coming into form, or have been there abouts so far and need a win, or who have been a bit quieter lately than they were earlier in the seaason. Not least is last year's winner, Vinokourov, but I am also thinking Sammy Sanchez, Ryder Hesjedal, Simon Gerrans or Tony Martin.
Of course, in the form he's in right now, Gilbert might just blow everyone away again on the last hill, but I'd like something different this time, and I am guessing that since no-one will believe that they can take Gilbert in a race that comes down to the final hill, there will be many serious attempts to break him and those other 'last climb' types like Schleck and Sanchez (and indeed Vinokourov) long before the finish, so I am hoping for insane breakaways etc.
