How large is the box it came in, is it feasible to carry one on the rear rack of a bike? If so I could pootle to my nearest store in Middlewich 6 miles away and bring it back today whilst the weather is gorgeous.

Fits widthways with a couple of bungee cords; go slow on a foot/cyclepath and avoid narrow bits as it might catch

Well I rang up Lidl customer service to ask about the dimensions, they rang the Middlewich store and they gave 2'x2'x8" which isn't too bad but they are out of stock

As are the two other nearest stores!!!

Looks like I'm out of luck as far as a work stand is concerned

It is 150mm x 160mm 1060mm just measured the box, and very heavy to have on your back on a bike I strapped mine to the crossbar and pushed it home but it is only 1 mile.

For the guys that missed out on the stand, You can allways get one from this guy.....?

Exactly the same stand but £23 more with delivery included, maybe not so bad once fuel or transport costs to get to a far away store that still has them in stock. I still would've much rather gotten one from my nearest shop but that is out of the question now.

There is always this one for £20, it only holds the rear wheel off the ground but that may be enough for playing with the gears and brakes. I still would like the Lidl one though

Wonder if Lidls had a customer that bought 10 of them or so...don't remember seeing anything about max no per customer.
He's been selling them on ebay for a while.

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
Lidl's (& Aldi's) marketing is really beginning to p... me off. I would very much like a workstand, and baselayer, but I could not get there on Thursday, absolutely no way - so no chance - and then there is the issue of no small men's sizes - discontinued by Aldi in their recent offerings. Why not more stock and fewer disappointed customers. What if they sold baked beans in this way ..... ? I begin to feel I just can't be bothered with them any more .....

the small amount of stock and once a year offers might be something to do with the low price - could be something to do with marginal costing where they can produce x-number to cover their variable costs having covered their fixed ones - that's all I can think of. This way of doing things might be a popular thing in Germany - another German company, Tchibo (closed down in the UK) were similar with weekly offers of high quality goods at very low prices, but for limited periods only and when they were gone, you had to wait until next year. Have to say, I planned a bit in advance having read on this and other fora and one of Lidl's staff told me to be early on the first day the items were on sale.

Whilst I know it can be frustrating missing out on all the deals the shortage of stock is probably due to having many stores. It probably factors out to be about 10 units per store to spread out the stock evenly. Some areas get drummed as soon as the thursday items go on the shelves, then you cannot also account for the selfish that buy them all to sell on.

Possibly a long shot for most but.....

The Isle of Wight store (Newport) usually has way more stock than it seems to sell - I guess owing to it's isolated location - if you know anyone going there in the next few days I reckon it would be worth asking them to ake a look

I managed to get the Pannier Bags last year a full two weeks after the offer - they still had more than 6 in stock!

shoot! Missed them again as away on holiday.
Every time they come in I seem to be away on holiday / business.
I really wanted one too.

I does make my blood boil when scumbags buy loads of stock and sell in on ebay. Surely LIDL can do something to stop this. Maybe they are not bothered as long as they sell the stuff. It seems to happen to all the bike kit.

Even better bargain is not needing one.

I hang my bikes from my garage beams via bits of old washing line.

I think these stands are for working on bikes, not storing them. Personally I'd find it hard to fettle gears and brakes, or do anything more substantial whilst it was hanging from the ceiling!
