The bike looks great, I have no clue as to value as I haven't bought a whole bike in years. I worked in a bike shop in the late 90's and coveted the steel Lemond's we had on the shop floor (which no-one ever bought..!)

I saw some other photos of the bike in an ad, it looks like there is some corrosion on the head tube where cables rub. Probably not an issue (head tubes are thick walled), but worth checking and sorting out.

Let's see some better pics when you get it ; )

Just to be clear: pretty much the only cycling I do is commuting. So this will be my only bike! I had a lovely Orro Terra bike, which I bought new, but it was sadly stolen. This will be a lovely replacement. Thanks all

I'd definitely wash it down in some clear rustproofing spray ac50 comes to mind.
Stops rust before it starts.

Very nice !
I would echo the above and say i would not use it for commuting but im a kitchen sink kind of commuter with panniers, mudguards, lights etc etc .

I'm in between; I commute on either a road or cyclocross bike and have clip-on mudguards plus lights but no panniers. It's usually built / bought for £250-500 and I expect to get 2-3 years of commuting out of it.

However, someone who shares my university's bike cage has a £4k+ Reilly Spectre as their commuter. It's pristine. Clearly they have different standards to me.

Personally I'd be happy using it as a commuter.
