Do you have a fan that provides adequate cooling? If not then you could be overheating so it feels hard, but the actual stress on your body/muscles is relatively low.

Just out of interest - what gear are you pushing and at what approximate cadence?

My guess would be lower gear, higher cadence on the turbo, which is making your heart and lungs work hard, but your legs aren't feeling it. That's what I always tend to do on the turbo.

You ought to be ashamed to be quoting the sufferfest slogan in your signature when you aren't even aching after riding the turbo. MTFU and ride harder!
i'm sorry i cant be a supreme athlete like yourself but maybe a little constructive criticism would be acceptable instead of the the inappropriate comments.

avg cadence 90rpm big ring on front and big on the back

yes but only a little desk fan

just to be clear - what gear does that equate to? Do you mean something like 50/25? That's a very easy gear for a turbo session, which may explain the lack of stress on your legs.
is it just that (50/25) so should i be pushing it in a bigger gear?
Also don't cross your chain!
what is meant by don't cross your chain?

'don't cross your chain' means don't ride in 50/25.

Gear choice does depend on the level of resistance you are using, but 50/25 is certainly not ideal at any level. Go for a gear/resistance which puts the chain in the middle or smaller end of the cassette - the idea is to work hard on the turbo.

many thanks for that, so would you choose higher resistance or higher cadence?

Choose a resistance level which gives you a similarity with riding on a flat road. Then use the gears to vary your effort level, depending on what you are trying to achieve with your session. That's what I do anyway...

I'm trying 50/25 on the turbo tonight, normally when I get off mine it takes all the strength I have left not to collapse in a heap next to the bike.

I think this thread has highlighted where I've been going wrong

Out of interest Paul - Do you use 50/25 when out on the road? Spinning that @120 rpm only gets you to 18-19 mph.

However, if you're happy to spin that ratio on the turbo then why not try a 34/17 or 39/19 combination for a better chain line.

when you say 'done in' what do you actually mean if your legs don't hurt - surely being 'done in' means you can hardly lift your legs once more?
Do you mean that you are breathing hard? spinning an easy gear fast will put more strain on the cardio system and less on your leg muscles - perhaps you are doing this?
