The phrase little things please little minds comes to mind, I did wonder if he'd just got back from the pub?
Or he was showing the first thing that he thought when seeing the word 'legwarmers'.
I'm guessing that's the answer as it was about the first thing that I thought when seeing the word 'legwarmers', although more Kids From Fame than Jane Fonda.
I think it's very amusing the way that some wear their ignorance like a badge of honour

TBH I was making a reference to the word tights. Unless you are a cyclist they are only worn by women and builders. Oldspice linked the picture of Jane Fonda a few years ago wearing tights. I suggested that I needed more proof to see if it was a childish reference. Mainly to see women in tights 
In hind-sight the word 'childish' was poorly chosen. I maybe should replace the first sentence with something like "He's referring to other uses for tights".
Maybe a few smilies would have helped.
