Leg warmers

I'm about to buy some leg warmers now it's getting into winter and just wondered if people used them with tights? If so then are they worn underneath the tights or on top of? As abit of an afterthought, how do you measure yourself for a pair?

my lower wardrobe depending on weather conditions is
Thermal compression Tights (depending on severity of cold)
Shorts/Tights
Leg warmers if its baltic
Ski Socks
Overshoes

Yup ian it can get pretty cold up here so depending on weather its different layers no weather is gonna stop me getting out on the bike only thing that i hate is cross winds and headwinds

i remember the first year i was in kent at xmas 1984 i was sitting on the beach at xmas it was that warm the following year they had 16inch of snow ;-)

No I meant tights. I think I'd just wear tights rather than shorts and leg warmers.

Nothing to stop you wearing tights and leg warmers, something i would think about if it was really cold, however i would put the leg warmers over the tights as you may find you get too warm once you've been out for a while, so the warmers will be easy to just take off and stick in your pocket.

Lucky for me being in South East Englandshire it very rarely get's very cold ie brass monkey weather.

Lived in Kent a year from 03-04 and it was colder than most winters I lived on Skye.

shorts & leg warmers are useful at this time of year (and in spring) because it is colder in the mornings and warmer in the evenings/afternoons, so you can wear just the shorts when its warmer... otherwise when it gets really cold, they are over the leggings for us, again it makes them easier to remove when you find yourself too warm... but it depends on what length of ride you are doing really, shorts & leg warmers are usually an early morning ride combination when you know it is going to be too cold to start off with but warm up considerably as the sun comes up.

Sorry to butt in... are thermal tights the same as compression tights..
