Im amazed by the comments of some of the people. Do people really have that much hatred in them towards a section of society that decides it wants to cycle? Society really is down the shi##er.
I reckon the next pc directive should be towards cyclistism........I'm being picked on for my beliefs.

This 'incident' has been widely reported on the local news in this area, and having watched the video several times, my impression is that this so-called left hook has been grossly exaggerated. In one bulletin, the reporter said that the cyclists believed that he 'narrowly avoided being killed' !?!? Yes, maybe the police driver could have given the cyclist a bit more consideration, but even professional drivers sometimes make minor errors of judgement or could have handled a situation better.

It does seem rather curious that the cyclist didn't make a complaint to the police before going to the media. I don't think this report does any favours for cycle-cam users or the wider cycling community, and I wonder if sooner or later there could be some kind of backlash against cycle-cam usage...

I love this comment by Motorist, London:

" I have seen cyclists pulled up by the kerb beyond the white lines at junctions where there is insuffient room for them and a vehicle to turn left: many vehicles accidentally mount the pavements on tight corners so do not pull up there."

And that there my friend is also a driving test failure...accident or not!!

What gets me is it's only a matter of seconds when the cyclist would have been passed the junction. No need to have overtaken him.
Like in Bramhope Ls 16 last week.Long straight road pinch point coming up ,two cars go past me then i heard the 'tank' but by this time i am level with pinch point. So i points down to island and a screeching of brakes behind me.Stupid sod,but i held my position, numpty then went past me,all for the sake of seconds, what is it with rushing everywhere these drivers must be so important.

I don't know why he needed to go to the newspaper(s), couldn't he have just posted it on youtube and then complained to the police?

If it wasnt a police car it wouldnt have got any attention at all. It wasnt good driving but didnt look especially lethal.

Personally I would have reported it to the Chief Constable and been happy with an apology. If an apology wasnt offered
then perhaps make it public.

Perhaps he did go to the police and they told him to bugger off?
I would assume from this section that he didn't go to the police.
The cyclist, who plans to lodge a formal complaint with Humberside Police....

Looking at some of the comments on his vid it seems he had a previous incident that the police didn't take an interest in, perhaps he thought this would move things along. Nothing like a bit of publicity to get the police interested in something.

Seems quite unlucky then doesn't he?! maybe he should look at his own positioning/hi vis clothing etc?

Banjo, Ontheroad:

Just playing devil's advocate here - I suspect the guy may be attention seeking, or rather this is being blown out of proportion as part of the Daily Mail's overall anti-cyclist agenda. What may have happened though is the guy went to the police, told them what happened, they were rude to him, so he's gone to the press and is now going through the processes of a formal complaint.

I've heard many other stories about things like police brutality where the police have stated "we haven't received a formal complaint". That's because making such complaints takes time - they have to go through the IPCC and assessed before the relevant force is informed.
