Hi, thinking of taking my bike on the local train, into Leeds Station. Anyone on the forum use Leeds? How do I exit the platforms and is there a way out just for bikes. Do I leave the platform and have to carry up the platform steps, though the ticket barriers. Thanks.

I've never used the station, but it does look like there are lifts to all platforms so you should probably be able to get round without climbing stairs

One of the entry barriers is larger, for people with bikes, pushchairs, wheelchairs etc. you need a valid ticket to get through.

The golden rule at Leeds station is that, if you're making a connection, your arrival and departure platforms will be as far away from one another as possible (well, usually).

I made platform 16 to platform 2 in 3 mins with a loaded tourer a few years ago using the stairs rather than the lifts  Only cause I had to!
There are lifts on every platform & as earlier post there is a staffed ticket barrier for bike access

Go round to the far side barriers, not those that face the steps & you'll find there's two wider barriers there. Lifts & stairs either end of the platforms. Although you can take your bike up the escalators, save you carrying it up the stairs.
Platform 9 -11 has a large display of what platform for the station your headed for.

Cyclepoint opened outside the main station building. You can leave your bike there if your not taking it further, or just going to the city centre.

If you prefer there are sheffield stands on platform 1 so you dont have to take your bike out the station, or as mentioned cyclepoint does day parking for £1.

Just wheel it. Carry on stairs by holding the downtube and resting the saddle nose or crossbar on your shoulder. Be observant of other people and, so far as you can, avoid crowds,

Some stations try and enforce a fold/carry policy for folding bikes, a nonsense that needs to be challenged vigorously.

And finally, don't even consider riding or scooting your bike on a railway platform. Apart from bring against the by-laws it gives excuses for those wanting to ban bikes or make cyclists lives difficult.

That's impressive - I doubt I could do that on foot, without a bike.

The only time I've had to make a connection at Leeds without changing platforms, I still left the platform to double check the main boards, as I couldn't believe it was true.
