Yay! Well done. And I'm super impressed with your weight loss -is that just with cycling or are you dieting too?
I'm a stone into my goal weight loss, half a stone to go.
As for cycling away from the car park, definitely try and find somewhere you feel safe to go. I started off on the cycle path last year and I was terrified of being in traffic but I'll ride anywhere now -and I'm still alive! Just go at a steady pace and keep your eyes on the road.
As for gloves - if you can't get the lidl ones they sell some reasonable ones for not a lot in sportsworld if you have one. ALthough I would spend more money for a really good pair. I got some pearl izumi ones -£20 - but they are amazing.

My weight loss is a diet as well, started around Sept/August 2010 and to date I have lost 9st 12lbs I believe...from my body shape now, I would guess that another 2 stone needs to go.

its great that you're doing so well on your weight goals!

Cycling came about really because I had never bothered as a child (probably because of my weight and associated lack of interest in sport) but I have been trying to get more and more active as the diet has gone on and I thought that cycling would be a good option. So really I only begun to learn to ride about at the end of last year - its great fun, I like riding around fast so it feels the same as when you put your head out a moving car (just without the danger of a passing vehicle or lamppost decapitating you!)

Well I shall see how the glove search goes in Lidl! I just hope there's not lots of great cycle gear for me to spend my moola on...

I read somewhere that only a cyclist understands why a dog sticks its head out of a moving car's window!
I love love love coming down a hill fast, I always get the urge to take my feet off the pedals and go wheeeeeeeeeeeee!

Well, I got me gloves...got a size 9.5 whatever that means!

While I was there I grabbed meself one of their cycling jackets as I could do with a new rainproof anyway! Also, seeing as I'm still suffering slightly from that seat(!) I bought a pair of the padded cycling shorts. All totalled about £25, pretty good if you ask me!
