Indeed. And a good fella, too. I stayed with him when I did 'Pedal for Scotland' a few years back with a group of Scottish CCers.

I think he crashed because he had some fella on a bike chasing him and distracting him from his driving , just thought i'd throw that into the mix

Although the driver was clearly in the wrong in the first place, I wonder what was the actual cause of the bump? The distraction of using a mobile or the distraction of the cyclist hounding him.

Fundamentally, there are three causes of a collision from behind:

• Too fast
• Too close
• Not paying attention

The phone - or indeed the cyclist - is a secondary cause (which triggers the “not paying attention” one)

Marvellous, I hope he gave a copy to the victims insurers and the McFeds.

He said the driver in front declined to involve the police and didn't want the supporting video evidence either (and the offending driver was annoyed that he offered it).
