The spokes all seem to be tensioned ok and if i spin the wheel with my hand then it doesn't wobble.

However when cycling there is sometimes a knocking noise and i can also push the wheel left and right. The hub is a specialized own brand one - or to be specific "specialized forged alloy, 32 hole, double sealed ball bearing." Any ideas what the problem is likely to be?

There doesn't appear to be any servicing guidelines for specialized hubs on the net so even if i knew what is wrong with it i dont know where to start to try and fix it. Probably should diagnose exactly what the problem is first before i start tinkering about and making it worse

Thanks for any help

It will be cup and cone and will strip just like any other labryinthe sealed cup and cone hub by the likes of shimano, it might not look exactly the same but it will be put together the same way..

The cones have worn or you have snapped the axle, both fixable.

Thanks for the help, looks like the sort of job even a klutz like myself might be able to attempt to do
