I'm going to buy myself another MTB but i dont want to spend a fortune on one as it'l only be used occasionally when i go to the trails with Jake or some canal path rides with friends

I've looked at the usual suspects from the well known brands but my LBS has got a Landrover Khartoum in the sale and its only £300 they normally retail from £449 to £499 depending on where you buy from

Spec is

Frame: 7005 Series Alloy
Fork: Suntour XCT V2
Rear Gear: Shimano Alivio
Rear Freewheel: 8sp Shimano
Shift Controls: Shimano Alivio Pods 24sp
Brakes: Shimano Hydraulic
Wheels: Disc Hub With Double Wall Disc Rims
Chainset: Suntour XCC
Tyres: WTB Nanoraptor
Stem: Tioga Alloy
HandleBars: Tioga Alloy With 30mm Rise
Saddle: WTB Pure V Race
Sizes:17.5", 19.5" & 21.5"
Colour: Blue

it just seems a bit weird buying a bike with Landrover written on it but at the price it looks to be quite a good deal ?

Any Thoughts

I like hydraulic discs - definate plus - and i have a feeling that fork has lockout, again, defiante plus...

I've also had the pleasure of building a Landrover bike up, and apart from the satanic name, the appear to be fairly light frames...

just my two (inflation adjusted) million cents...

Just call me Chris...
I have no idea to be perfectly honest but from that spec, it sounds more like a £300.00 bike (if that) than a £500.00 one anyway.

I'd compare it to a GT Agressor if it was me.

Ahh, I have the pleasure of owning a GT XC3 - Highly recommended for the price - has lasted me through many epic routes down the canal, used every day pretty much since I had it.... Love it to pieces...

Thanks Trumpet Tom

It was definately lighter than my old Giant Terrago and had a nice riding position .. the bike will never see any serious off roading just some of the Adventure type trails rather than the red and black runs and it does look like a bit of a bargain

Its just the name ?

Just the name about it that I don't like - but then again, I'm a volunteer with a environmental sustainability organisation in free time - so I'm destined to recoil/vomit/puke at a name like LandRover...

If Cervelo ever produced a car, I would avoid it for exactly the same reason I would avoid a LR bike. Buy a bike from a bike manufacturer not a car company.

One hopes this is different....

However in most cases, a "badged" bike tends to be a cheaper version with an inflated price "justified" by the marque.

The trick is to find out what the original was.

Do you think the bikes are made at Solihull? Or Halewood?

The one in the photo was made at Pashley in Stratford upon Avon.

The others are assembled at various LBS builders including Kelvin Cycles ( my old mate Steve ) in Cubbington, Leamington Spa.

You'd say NO to this?

You have been promoted to the top of my 'idiots' list.

Actually....Although made by Colagno, i personally think that frame is pretty tasteless with its graphics, and crass with it's branding. This one i'm more forgiving of......
