I've found folding bead tyres worse to get on and wire bead tyres are difficult at first. You pays yer money and .......
FWIW I don't think you can do better than the Marathon GGs 40c but have look at this;

Just been searching again and found some Michelin Protek at just over a tenner each for size 700 x 40C or the Protek Urban which are a shade under thirty notes each. Big difference in price anybody had any experience of them ?

Just to finish this thread I went ahead and bought the Michelin Protek. They go on easy and seem like a good tyre.
