Of those you mention I think that only Holmes qualifies for an award based on what you've written.
... it's the lifetime achievement combined with a "profile" which brings the knight/damehoods.If however, after a lifetime of sporting achievement, they go on to do things to encourage others to take up sport, particularly encouraging children to get into it etc

The likes of Rebecca Adlington should get a lower award, which can be ranked up as she gets further success later in life (was this how Seb Coe was awarded his ?).
Bradley/Chris are only likely to be considered for knighthoods when they retire .... so that's a long way off yet !![]()
