None of this matters as long as you cut the top off a boiled egg with the larger end uppermost.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Apparently there was an international incident over cutlery placement on Downton Abbey recently with much fainting and sniffing of smelling salts.
Maggie Smith was heard to say: "A fork for jelly and blancmange surely not, how simply awful."

Fork in right hand, knife in left, but I'm right handed.

Really annoys my wife and her family, but I can't see why it matters to them.
Didnt know there were so many of us!

For once I feel included!!!!

As long as you don't do that thing where you hold your knife like a pen, you bloody idiot.[/quote]

My wife does that. Drives me mad but I still married her.

This always causes arguments in our house:boxing:

I'm right-handed for most things, but have always been, fork/spoon-in-right, knife-in-left
As far as I'm concerned I fed myself with my right hand:hungry:

swmbo also right-handed eats the 'proper' way  knife under control she says

Left handed knives , who ever heard of such silliness.

Just another modern fad, snap out of it and get a grip

In polite society* the knife is held in the right hand**. Over the years I've very occasionally come across people who do it the other way around, but they are rare. Eating a meal opposite an American was an education with her cutting up everything small and changing the fork to her right hand. How they ever eat a fully hot meal I'll never know.

*I was educated you know!
**Holding a knife like a pen is a sign of strangeness in the rest of a person's life. Avoid these strange people, they are likely aliens!
