..a long way from somewhere called Home..
If you need to increase to "tread" specialized sell pedal axle extenders to increase it by 20mm.Ive done this to my road bike and my knee pain has gone.

lost me a bit there
if our walking tread is narrow, and older bikes were narrow, and wider treads were introduced due to 8/9/10 cog spacing

why did you increase your tread - and how did you know you had to..?

started with hybrid which has triple chain ring bought a road bike with double and started getting knee pain .Both bikes set up the same. When I measured the distance between pedals the difference was over 20mm.Bought the spacers to move my feet out on the road bike and now the pain has gone.

has any one mentioned putting it in an easier gear and spinning more quickly? it makes a difference to my knees, and my legs in general
