Evening - Really getting knackered at the moment and only managing 2 days on the trot commuting into work (15 mile round trip)

Only been riding a couple of months, early 30's 5ft 11" and 12 stone and 3/4 and pretty much apart from the bike only excercise is maybe a 20 min walk at lunch.

I have cut out Sugar in Tea, Chocolate, Biscuits and try to have 2x bits of fruit per day.

Realistically should I just fight the tiredness and go for 3 days in a row or stick to 2 with 1 or 2 rest days ??

Usual routine :
Mon Evening - Cycle Home 7.5m - Tuesday There and Back 15m , Wednesday There 7.5m, drive back - Thursday Cycle Home 7.5m, Friday Cycle there 7.5m - Saturday off, Sunday 15m or a 10m ride with big hills.

Prob get around 8 hours sleep max - Have a sleepless 3 year old so up twice a night and another one on the way any minute so sleep will only get worse.

nothing quite like being woken twice a night

you forget what 'normal' is like, your milegae isn't high and two months in is enough to get used to it, I assume your bike is in good nick and set up more or less right, I take you're tired all the time and not just after riding?

More fruit mate..loads.....

I'm just over 12 stone and 5-9 and race lean, so you aren't large in any statistics....

You don't need to cut out sugar - I didn't but you do need long carbs - so, porridge, wheatabix, or natural musili for brekkie - no sugar ones....

Just push the days, see how you feel and keep going... PS Have kids as well....

Ride in and back... I'd never leave the car, but now, my car lives on the drive..... moves about once a week....

I wonder if you are eating enough?

I have a similar langth commute and I found that I did have to slightly increase the amount of food I was having for lunch and I often have a banana 45 minutes before I leave at the end of the day. Are you getting enough liquids?

Also, as you say, broken sleep can't help.

Another thing to consider is that you've still not been cycling all that long - I remember when I started it took a while before my thighs stopped aching all the time. And as you say - your ride is hilly so it's going to be harder than just the distance would suggest.

Keep at it - I'm sure it will get easier.

Any concerns about tiredness all the time and I would suggest you go see your GP. It could be nothing at all but could be symptomatic of any number of things. For the sake of a few blood tests and a body MOT what have you got to loose?

I'd advise you avoid the chocy and try and get a banana in 30-60 minutes before setting off home and throw some extra veg on the plate at lunch.

Sounds very much like a food issue to me - do a little research and see what you can learn. it's so important to get that part right, finding thatout for myself now.
