I bought a fleecy headband thingy from decathlon to cover my ears, they get painful if the cold gets in them. I mislaid it when moving house so I started wearing my buff as a beanie hat under my helmet, and it works better, I've found. I also wear a fleece neck tube to keep my neck warm. I pull it up over mymouth and nose but i usually end up pushing it down partway into my journey when I get too hot.

Buffs are great - especially the polar ones with a fleecy bit at the bottom. I do like a skullcap for on top though.

Oh, and you could just wear the wooly hat without the helmet on top

Buff. I wear one as a neck warmer mainly, and it has seen emergency service as a balaclava in a sudden hailstorm, performed great. Awesome things. Oh and you can turn them into bandanas for your kids...;)

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
Skull cap for the head and ears - and a buff for the neck area, and pull it up if your nose is cold.

I use a cycling specific skullcap. Has slight ear specific bits which are better than just a beanie. A buff is a useful addition for the neck and face but this is only on very cold days which I try to avoid

Thank you so much for your replies.

After very little further thought I've decided on.........a buff.

Just looked on the manufacturer website, I now only have to choose from 222 designs of the original buff.

A buff ... ^_^

Pull the tube over your head (like putting on a jumper) and stop as it starts to uncover the top of your head; then pull the front part down so it tucks under your nose, and it'll keep your head, ears, face and neck warm!

[Edit: I see I've been multi-ninja'd ... ]
