Keeping ears warm

Is there anything I can wear safely and which is comfortable with my helmet which will keep my ears warm?

The cold is intense on my ears but my wooly hat is too thick and so my helmet looks and feels awkward if worn with it.

I wear a headband made of fleece, it is larger where the ears are. Also, I use a triangular bit of fleece material too help keep the cold out of my crotch on really cold rides.

A Buff is all you need....
Other people may mention a Buff also.. because a Buff is the answer to all.

I wear a skull cap and a buff, I'm a wimp. My buff protects my neck and face

+1 for the beanie...I have to loosen my helmet some but really notice the difference
