Had my shed broken into before xmas and my bike stolen, it was only a carrera kraken to ride to work!

and today i replaced it with A boardman comp hybrid. second hand on ebay. paid 250 for it.
think thats a good price, but dont think serious cyclists rate halfords stuff too highly!!
but want to know is it worth taking it to a lbs to get it checked over and set up properly. how much can i expect to pay for this?

boardman bikes are NOT halfords stuff, they are simply sold through Halfords. otherwise... nothing to do with halfords :becool:

most cyclists rate the boardmans very well. never know a boardman get a bad review yet. they are known for good quality and value for money.

if your not good with bikes yourself then it may be worth getting it looked over. personally i do all my own maintenance and would rather spend the money on a good bike maintenance book, but there's no shame in using the LBS.

dont take it to halfords, the service is very hit and miss.

Just bought the ladies version yesterday for the Mrs. Class piece of kit, but Halfrauds service was pretty poor.
Take it to a proper bike shop to get it checked-over.
From a short spin on the Boardman the nice thing I can see about it is that it rewards hard-riding and responds well to a bit of effort - good fun!

They are highly regarded and you seem to have got a good deal.
They are something to do with halfrauds, lets say, they have an interest in the the brand. But still dont take it back for them to service, its a risk.
If in doubt take it to a good lbs, depending on the wear and tear, just a basic service should be about £50, may save you money in the long run.
