I think you're going to have a lot of fun with this.
Take your first few rides to dial in the fit and to get yourself comfortable. Don't go too hard or too fast until you know the bike is set up right, as tempting as it might be.
Oh, and if you don't already have them... padded shorts... get some
i've got the 2009 version, now used as no. 2 bike.
I love it and have had many happy miles on it.
The Sora front shifters aren't great, but perfectly fine and TBH you only know they aren't great after you've upgraded to something better. New bike has 105.
As above, make your first mod to change the tyres.
Michelin Krylion Carbon's were about £22 each in 700C*23C on Chain Reaction Cycles very recently (end of production I believe), that is a huge discount on the RRP and postage was next day. Reviews are always goood on these, the grip is excellent, the rolling resitance is low, the noise is minimal and the stopping distance in wet or dry is superb.
The Michelin Pro Race 2/3 tyres are also very popular and seem to be the tyres everything else is compared to.
Continental Tyres make Gatorskins which are excellent also and have a tread pattern.
Deffo get padded shorts no matter what anyone says, ive just got some and rode a friends bike and boy im glad i did, his seat is razor sharp, and the bike is very nice good choice
