That I went for a 40 minute ride today!! :hyper: That is nothing to most of you but I only rode for the first time the other week and was wobbling about everywhere on my first ride.
I've found this wonderful country lane actually just off my road (although I live on a busy thru road) and never knew it was there! It was magical stumbling across it!
AND I actually rode back all the way on the main road, couldn't have done that 2 weeks ago! And I lived to tell the tale!! ^_^
Just wanted to tell someone!

Well done SR. So chuffed for you.
Just about to go out for a ride myself now.

Any news on a new bike as yet?

Thank you everyone! ^_^
Not got a new yet bike Saluki but am starting to look. Don't have a lot of money at the moment so I might keep going with my pink borrowed bike and see if Santa feels generous this year!
I'm ashamed to say I've been a bit of fair weather rider this week because the weather was awful here and I had a bit of a bug midweek but today I felt so much better and decided to get out there. It was great! I even managed a bit uphill (well it felt steep to me! probably was only a tiny incline though) so my confidence is building a bit.

SR, no shame in being a fair weather rider if you don't have to go out. You don't get medals for making yourself poorly. well done on your progress so far, you will soon rack up some miles.

Thank you! It was so great to find my new found route. I can't believe the places that have been there all this time and I didn't know. I can't wait to find out some new places around here too. I do try and stay off the roads as much as possible because some people drive like loons round here but I still felt proud of myself for coming back on the main road.
Can I ask a question about path etiquette if there is such a thing please? Some cyclists were coming the other way to me on my path and I wasn't sure whether to ride on the left hand side of the path or the right (or does it matter?) it was a country path through some woods not a road. They seemed to come either side of me but I did wonder whether there was an accepted way of doing things.

People drive like loons everywhere.

Path etiquette - people ride like loons everywhere ;)

I find that if I try to stick to same rules as the road (ride on the left) I generally get on alright. It's just a shame that others don't do the same, I've lost count of the number of cyclists that believe riding on the right is how it's done!

Well done btw, good ole country lanes eh
