Just cycled 10miles to work on my new Boardman Comp Road Bike, and the difference was amazing. Shaved off 15 mins from time (I am slow) and have arrived here without being a huge sweaty mess.

Thanks for all the advice I got from here, all the tips made a difference. Handed in the train ticket too, so no going back now.

Cheers

Good Job James,

What bike were you using for the trip before the upgrade? I am currently riding to work (22 miles) a few times a week to build up my fitness. I'm using a Diamond Back Hybrid and intend to upgrade to a road bike over the summer.

I was using the old bike in the garage, which was a Raleigh Resonator. A big heavy MTB, with chunky wheels. I found it a lot easier on a road bike, and hopefully with a few more trips I will start to see a difference in my fitness.

Is that 22 miles each way or round trip?

Thanks James,

It is 22 miles each way but at present I'm only cycling one way. Drive in cycle home, cycle in drive home etc. Today will be the fourth day in a row and I'm looking forward to a few days off! The bike I have isn't a bad bike so although I hope to see a difference on a road bike I will be happy if I can knock off 10-15 minutes over the trip.
