I'm sure that the HC does make a mention of not reversing out of a driveway

That's what I remember being taught, was thinking of it today watching an idiot reversing out onto a very awkward bend.
I looked down their drive and there were 2 more cars, both nose in with no chance of turning them round. :bravo:

If i could I would like to see this guy visited and 'explained' the concept of safe driving by some traffic cops...but like I said they couldnt care less unless someone is hurt, which is why th elaw is wrong becaus eit is only there to prove blame and not prevent serious injury or death from pillocks like him.

I'll draw your attention to the Road Traffic Act 1988 section 170. The key bit to think about once you have googled this is "owing to the presence of a motor vehicle on a road..." as this clearly cover the driver who reversed.

He has a duty to provide details, which he has not. Plenty of witnesses to confirm it was owing to his presence on the road that the accident took place.

Going out and about today. We were waiting in a line of traffic when a Mercedes SLK comes from nowhere driving down the middle of the road between the two lines of traffic. Apparently, as I didn't see him, he had reversed out of his drive lower down the road but because the traffic nose to tail he couldn't get in so had just carried on up the middle regardless until he could!

Glad everyone ok though.

...

erm...yes he did actually.

The smash from behind was caused by him but it wasnt his fault legally....but this guys just such a prick,, th earrogance of him beggars belief...that highway code section is useful...I sense a trip to th ephotocopier and a walk up his drive.
