A wee tip. If you're going along the chroming route, ensure that a coat of copper is plated on first. This will prevent rust forming on the steel frame and eventually showing through the chrome. This practice was common many years ago with the better plating companies. :thumbsup:

There's cheap chrome and there's good chrome - and when its fresh you can't easily tell the difference. Wait a few years though, and the cheap stuff ends up full of scabby rust spots. My old Puch 3-speed from around 1973/74 has absolutely terrible chrome. OK, it's only a £5 hack so I'm not bothered, but after 45 years exposure to the elements it highlights why these bikes were about 20% cheaper than an equivalent Raleigh 3-speed when new. Corners were cut that didn't matter when everything was fresh and shiny, but only show up years later.
