I managed to fit in a quick 20 mile spin this morning before having to take my lad to play football. Went out at 9 and it was a glorious morning, with the countryside looking gorgeous; the autumn colours were really glowing in the sun. It was pretty hot even at that hour but on a ride that usually sees me contesting with the wind it actually felt easier than normal although that may have been me just being happy to be out (it was the first time I'd been out on the bike for 3 weeks as have been training for a run plus resting my knee from the cycle after over doing it on holiday a month or so ago). Saying that, just on that short run I went through a bottle and a half.

Rode to the NEC for the cycle show and back - ride there was nice, but by the time i left, my goodness it was hot..... and all i had in my bottle was gatorade which i'd gotten free from the British cycling guys. Normally i don't mind gatorade but this was too sickly sweet and claggy and sick making in this heat. Got home and was sweaty as heck.... urgh.

Out at 07:30 - met up with a mate and rode 30 miles on the MTB. Lovely morning for it here in Essex.

Then, after getting home and a couple of cheeky little espressos, took my new Carerra TDF out for a spin - just to try the set up and get a feel for it. Rode another 8 miles to my parents place and back. By the time I got home (for the second time) I was sweating like an MP undergoing an expenses review!!!

Did enjoy it though.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
4 of us turned up for the "fast " club run today .

It was my first time with the faster group and they said they were going to take it a bit easier today , i left them after the cake stop which was about 4 miles from my house as i will be continuing decorating this after noon.
Easy enough and i could have done more although is was getting warm.

50 miles at an average of 19 mph .

Today's due wet weather dictated that I head out for an evening ride last night. Quite an enjoyable 30 miles.
Those 3W LIDL lights certainly make late returns more comfortable so all bodes well for winter.

It gets drier after 5pm so maybe chance of a 2nd 30 miler tonight.

I completely got the wrong idea when I read the topic title!!

Anyway the heat does play hell with me but I try to get on with it anyway. What ever doesnt kill me just makes me weaker.

Took last Thursday off work and did 58 miles with 4080 ft of climbing at 14.5 mph. My legs were cramping up for the last twenty miles and I could still feel the torn muscle fibres yesterday so instead of going for a Sunday ride I chopped up a tree.

Now my hands, arms and shoulders are killing me....
