The shop i got my bike from were really happy to take my money, but when i went to pick it up i was just handed over my bike with a 'there ya go'. Unfortunatly there was someone in there obviously spending alot more then me.
I've now changed to the bike shop which is round the corner from me, the guys who own it are both class 2 racers so really knowlagable but have alot of time for advice etc. They were kind enough to adjust my front derailleur and help me with some advice on fitting (something my original shop didn't) all for free.

I recently purchased my fulcrum R7s- they matched wiggles online price, changed my cassette over and sorted me out some ultremo r1s at a decen't price.

I'm going to continue to use them for services and more bikes i hope!

so there are decen't shops out there just 'shop around' lol

Thing is this shop is only small one man band sort of thing and they can't do enough, i think there is alot to be said for shop loyality so i'm gonna keep that in mind when i'm i need more spares and services etc.

they were also kind enough to give me some advice on training over the winter and how to start racing next year..

Speed Cycles in Bromsgrove: http://www.speeds-cycles.co.uk/

Happy to give advice on the phone and didn't treat me like an idiot when I brought a bike in that I'd purchased from another retailer where the spokes clearly hadn't been checked before selling it to me. Also didn't try to upsell me on anything either.

just looked at thier website and i am definetly going to give these guys a try and i will let you know

I can only think of another in that general area and I'm hoping they're not rubbish as it's on my commuting route (although they never seem to be open when I go past).

Hi Baron

its Scotts Cycles in Rubery town Centre and they have been there years and its such a run down shop

Phew, I thought it was the one on the A38 in Northfield (never been in but might be one for you to try).

That's Northfield Cycles, been in there also and they have a very high opinion of themselves and don't really offer you any help and they are very expensive

I bought a bile from Halfords years ago and the gears needed indexing after only a couple of weeks and didn't want to take it back to Halfords so took it there, what should have cost me £12 cost me £55, why, they said one of the teeth on my rear cassette had broken and i needed a new one but they would keep the old one so i could claim from Halfords

Well when i went to pay they had threw away the old cassette so no proof and that the cassette would be deep down in a skip by now

Well, never went back there either

As i write this i am thinking do i have a sign on my head when i go into these LBS that says treat me badly LOL

I hate LBS but i am still looking for one that i am happy to walk into and be treted with respect, i will still look but down to my final 2

Time to move house, mate?

Of the 4 LBS I've used in Leeds, there's one I don't go to unless I really, really have to (pity, cos it's far and away the nearest). But the other 3? Brilliant. And I can think off hand of 3 in towns around I'd very happily go back to again and again.

I'll whisper this one - shhhhhhhh! Don't tell anybody it was me who said this .... but for a long time the local Halfords had a pretty good bike dept; built up over a few years by a couple of good guys. Hmmmm - then came recession, and they sacked their car parts staff, and put the the bike guys on to car parts sales because they were good .............. Huh?
