Hey

Finally got round to ordering a cycle computer yesterday. Went for a Strada Wireless, Green Jersey Edition and it was waiting for me when i got back from work today! Now that's fast from Wiggle(first time I've used them)

Fitted it straight away, in >10 mins, and went for a quick spin... got 21.6 MPH (max) around the block!

Now I can finally track my mileage and average speed.

PS. Already looking for something new to quench my need for new toys/gadgets

Gratz!

I was going to buy the yellow jersey one to match my boardman decals but already have a decent enough computer till it goes kaput.

Hmmm..

Maybe a GPS...
I definitely want a camera but currently do't have a helmet cos the girlfriend stood on it and broke it!

Also...
I was looking at the Yellow one, actually had it in the basket, but when I went to pay it was Out Of Stock so got the Green one (More of a sprinter anyway

I got the same computer. How did you measure the wheel? Did you use the default or did you do a full wheel rollout? When I did a rollout I got 2125mm which was a little bigger than the default. Max speed is about 31mph and it seems to be tracking distance pretty well.

I just used the standard 700x32c measurement, I've just moved flats and can't find the tape measure to do it more accurately. When I find it I'll do a rollout, it'll probably be 'miles' out at the moment

There's a decent hill near mine, I bet a can get a nice speed along there, had to brake last time to avoid free wheeling into the back of a car....

I can't cycle without my computer, it just makes everything so much more interesting.

I use a Garmin and once or twice I forgot to charge it  I miss the clock but you can cycle without it ;)

If it is any use to you, and you need to feed your addiction, you can buy me that new computer, as mine is a little dodgy. That way you get the fun of buying new gadgets, I get the fun of owning it - it's a Win Win!

I would do it sooner than later, as you have to reset it to change the settings. The last thing you want to do is do a few hundred miles & end up losing it all.

Been playing with (useing) my two main out door toys today. Normaly use one at a time but today I wanted to compare the readings.

6 six year old Cateye Velo 8 fitted by LBS as part of the Bike deal. It has fell off a few times when I have been carelsss and it has stopped working when the magnet has beeen moved but other wise in good shape and used almost every time I am out on the bike. The other toy was a I year old Garmin Etrex (HS) GPS (the yellow one). Normally used when fell walking or when I want a check on a power walk.

1) Distance shown by Velo 8 43.53 miles
2) by GPS 44.3 (some of the difference can be explained by having to carry the bike up the steps on to the Lambley viaduct)
3) Time moving Velo 8 5:14
4) GPS 5:30 (see 2 above)
5) Average velo 8 8.2 (well it was hilly, hot and I was carrying full Panniers etc as a try out)
6) GPS 8.1

I was pleased enough with this, as I am not one to dither over small differences but I will get a proper mount for the GPS (today it was in the map case of the bar bag)
Next toy is most likely to be a Drift X140 camera I see they are now down to £130. (not the HD)
I will give a report on this when I have it and have tried it out.
