No, for any non UK members or people under a certain age, Avon was/is a toiletries and make up company who recruited people to go round everyone's doors, looking to sell things through their catalogue. Once you got said catalogue and gave the rep the order sheet, 'your' Avon rep would deliver.
It was usually young woman looking to make a bit of extra money.
They would also give make up demonstrations, etc.
Because of the feminine nature of it all
'Yer Da Does Avon!'
Or
'Your Dad Does Avon!'
Was and still is, a relevant insult. 😆
