No.
It doesn't really matter and those who do think it matters are just snobs.

Many "Italian" brands have frames made in the Far East anyway so why get hung up on it?

It's a global business these days....
I ride a frame that was originally ( I think) US designed, then modified with British input, design now owned by a Dutch company, but welded together in China.
I happen to prefer the feel of Campag Ergos to Shimano STIs so I specced it from new with Campag/Fulcrum
It now has a British made saddle and wheel hubs (but still Italian rims)
When and if I change the chainset it will be likely be for a French one.
Does it matter ?
Hell no.

I have an Italian frame for my bike, made by an Italian company in Italy.

I have got a gruppo by an American company, wheels by a different American company and finishing kit by Italian companies.

I know some of the American bits won't have been made there, while some will have been and the finishing kit will have partially been made in Italy, while I expect some may have come from the far East.

Do I mind, no. I got the bits I wanted, without real regard for where the companies were based. I think that making good products isn't limited to geographic locations.

Snobbery doesn't really come into it. Some feel that Italian bikes should be Campag equipped as the brand is synonymous with Italian bikes, even though it is now made in the Far East the same as Shimano.

I have a Cinelli Experience that is available with either Veloce or 105 gearing. I chose the Campag version because I like the hoods and the thumb shifter better than the Shimano ones.

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
Where is Shimano made anyway? Noticed that my Mavic (French) wheels are made in Romania.

Guilty as charged, yes I'm a snob, Campag only on any Italian bike. She+@#no wears out, Campag wears in!

Bikes seem to cost more with shimano than campag??
What bikes? You can get a new roadbike with shimano for £300, doubt you can with campag. You have to compare like with like, which isn't very easy with different groupset

Road bikes always seem to cost more with sram if you can find them!
