It always makes me slightly nervous when I have to do this to one of my bikes

We've been using this rack for years but this is the first time I have loaded my 'good' bike onto it. uploadfromtaptalk1356262506456.jpg

I will feel every bump over the next 100 miles.

It's when your bike is on a trailer being towed down the motorway by the car in front and you suddenly realise that said driver has fallen asleep at the wheel that you need to worry.

I can't see the pic very well. The rack's not resting on the glass is it?

I got a Mont Blanc mated to Land Rover roof bars. It's never let me down but I still bungee up at all the contact points. At work they very kindly bought us a Corsa with the cycle carrier built into the rear bumper. Bits a marvellous device, just a Shame they never checked with us before spending their money cos 2 out of the 3 of us trainers don't fit behind the wheel...

We have a tow bar, what sort of carrier do you use?

We have a thule G5 909 (which takes 3 bikes plus the option of an additional one) and allows us access to the boot of our saloon.
Got it off Ebay with the extra bike adaptor and the 13-7 pin converter for around £200. We had something similar but a 2 bike model in the past, so know them well and much prefer them to other types of bike carriers, not least of all because both the rack and the bikes are locked onto the car so we can safely leave them in service stations, campsites etc.

I find it incredible that the whole rack is only attached to the car by the towing ball thingie, it must be really well designed.

Seeing as the car has roof rails, why not fix it on the roof?

Best thing i ever did was bin the nasty rear carrier and get some thule bike racks for the roof.
