He didn't seem to have the legs🦵🦵 yesterday when he came second to Remco. He needs a bit more help and if this thread on CC helps , all the better.😁

Too much Jonas-bodyguard training and not enough Wout-wins-things training?

I keep hearing this, but he's down to race Amstel and The Giro before he meets up with Jonas for The Tour. He was supposedly training to peak for Flanders and Paris-Roubaix.

I don't think he's got his training quite right, but I think te Vuelta crash may have been harder to come back from than imagined

He last won a monument in August 2020. His great ‘rival’ has won 8 monuments since, as has Pog.

Is he finished? No. Has he fulfilled his promise? I suspect if you go back an read reports of MSR 2020 you will an expectation that that wouldn’t be his last monument.

But as your forum name goes he's won plenty of stages since then...🤔👍

I'm think he may be in great shape for the giro

Wout v Mads in the Giro should be fun, think they'll both be targeting the ciclamino

Is Mads then not doing the Tour? Is that because of Trek then focusing on Milan? Seems they could easily coexist, but then again I'm not sure how serious they are about Skjelmose' GC chances and them then picking more pure climbers to support that.

For a time it seemed that Team Sky had changed the meta to have the entire team revolve only around the GC with only climbers, as few rouleurs as possible and to omit a sprinter entirely.

Yeah, was left out for Milan. Don't think it would have worked that well with both tbh, even if targeting different stages - especially not if the green jersey is an aim.

Meanwhile Wout finally won a sprint, but it was for yet another 4th place.

I like that people still talk of MVDP and WVA being some sort of rivals. That ships long since sailed.

I thought so too, but there were a couple of moments in Flanders/Roubaix where you could still see they had eyes for each other. MvdP definitely chased down a fairly mediocre WVA attack at one point, where he could probably have let someone else do it.

If he hadnt won that race (e.g. puncture on the Poggio??), I suspect these discussions would be very different. Same rider ...
