Is using grease that's 25 years old ok?

My old neighbour used to used to be into oil, think it was Comma he worked for, he could put a bit of oil between his fingers & basically tell you what it was & what was in it from it's texture & smell, or he at least he could, no way to disprove it.

Pffft... real lubricologists do it by taste.

I got some of my dad's old Castrol LM grease that I use on pulley bearings.

Looks a bit like this

Probably older than me and works just fine.

Going by the logo it‘s somewhere from late 60s to early 90s.

Of course it's OK to use old grease. I've had this stuff since the late 1970s

I don't use my grease gun on the car anymore but I recently smeared a bit on the threads when I changed my freewheel.

I'm still using a tub of Castrol grease from the 50's.

From my experiences of slipping 25 year old grease coloured liquid down my throat from time to time , I wouldn't hesitate to use 25 year old grease on my pedals.

Only one way to find out

Open it up. If its all liquidy then its pretty much gone. All the magic is starting to separate from the mix

There was only a smear of it left really. Incidentally, does anybody need a set of windshield draught deflectors for a 1977 Opel? Still in the packet...
