Feel really thick with this one, just got new bike, Sirrus comp, lovely bike but Sh*t pedals for a £700 bike - anyway my daft question: the bike has rim stickers on both sides of each wheel, the stickers state 'Alex rims' and gives a bit of safety advice and some other guff. Are these meant to stay on the rim or just take them off? I tried to peel one back and it left a sticky mark so I put it back. Perhaps I could use a hairdryer to warm up the sticker adhesive, I have done this before on a car. I hope this makes sense and please treat this as a daft question, I am not that thick! Cheers

It depends, if for example they say 'Harry Rowland' you obviously leave them on.

Nah it's not daft, some people take the stickers off to reduce weight, now that's daft

Thats a nice bike that.

On my Bontrager Race wheels the edges of the stickers had started peeling off by themselves so just took the whole lot of. Left a load of that stickyness on the wheels which I cleaned up with automotive brake cleaner. Actually probably would have been a load easier with a hairdrier.

A friend of mine changed his mind about buying my bike but not before 'de-stickering' most of it, especially the Mavic CrossMax wheels. Wether they look better for it or not is open to debate but it definitely reduced their re-sale value.

They're just stickers, neither meant to stay nor to come off.
All my rims have stickers because I like how they look, if I didn't like them they'd be off.

I have a Sirrus and have the same wheels and I left mine on, think they look ok. I took off the wheel reflectors though in going for the Stealth look.

So you went for the Sirrus eh, I am sure you won't be dissapointed but you are right about the pedals. Changed mine straight away!

Enjoy!

It's funny that, that's the reason I haven't taken them off my Mavic's just incase it reduces their value and I want to sell them down the line.

Thanks people, may leave them on for now and if the weather plays a part and they start to peel I will strip them back.

First ride to work this morning and it took me a while to get used to the ride, I did have a spec crosstrail before but that was stolen a week or so back. The sirrus comp is a lot lighter and I seem to be in a slightly different riding position - alos narrowest tyres I have riden on for many years. I just need to sort the pedals, back to deciding on spds or something like the dmr v8s on top of this I still have a knee/calf problem! Fifth week of physio coming up. I took things nice and easy this morning with new bike and first ride in to work for a few weeks. Just looking forward to a fully functional knee/leg and of course some nicer weather.

What pedals are on the new sirrus. I quite like the ones and straps that came with my old 2006 sirrus. They didn't like me sometimes though, the titanium/ shin combo doesn't agree; I changed for clipless and haven't looked back.

On my 2010 Sirrus that got nicked, it came with toestraps and these were decent. My replacement was the 2011 Sirrus Sport and the pedals were basic to say the least, see photo.

Seems with the new models this year certain aspects have been downgraded although my bike is still a great bike.
