You will never believe how many would be spammers present themselves with a wholesome avatar picture! ^_^
Would love frank to outline his system for validating supplied pics of folk as true likenesses.
Images of home visits from mods with cranial measurement instruments and exclamations on the door of avatar's lair opening of "you're not as good looking as your pic".
A committee of mods of mixed genders and inclinations
would then adjudicate.

Or we could just have an honesty system.

any posts that are blatant attempts at marketing a product are blocked before they even reach the forum pages.

if people saw how many posts have to be pre-moderated they might see things in a new light...

Is this a suggestion that increasing the traffic on the site will result in whoever owns it getting more advertising revenue?
I don't actually notice much in the way of relevant advertising. The banner advertisements don't really work as I rarely notice them and checking just now the advertisement will not result in me giving 888 casino any of my money.

How about a note from your mum, that should be OK?

I think my avatar picture is the most realistic on the entire forum - not just my handsome good looks, but it alsomsums up my character and outlook.

I like Skol

A Minging Manc...
What is your picture Julia? It looks like some kind of nightmarish fantasy creature to me and having met you doesn't seem to match the reality (although I don't know you that well so could be wrong ).

It's a small detail from my favourite painting The Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymus Bosch.
I put it up as my reaction to leaving the EU in January. I only meant to keep it a couple of weeks and then go back to my usual Tardigrade. I have kept it as it kind of sums up my reaction to 2020 in general!
Have a look at the painting - it will keep you busy for hours!

The 'targeted advertising really is quite bizarre isn't it ??

One moment something called "Victorias Secret*" is being alluded to by ladies who look like they've misplaced their cardis -

The next its 'tile warehouses' - not really my scene neither - i do hope that some of these adverts are responded to be someone -
otherwise the site might lose its only visible means of support..

*I'm sure Vicky will let me in on the intel when she's good and ready anyhow .

OOoo but hot off the presses - i'm now being encouraged to buy 'chromatography columns' - I'm sorely tempted - just to find out what the heck they are ...
