Is this bike anygood?

Hi there, im new to cycling(well other than as a kid) and im looking to get a bike that will be good enough for me to tour europe on. i have been looking at the muddyfox milano road(http://www.muddyfox.com/milano_road_2008.html)
and the milano hybrid (http://www.muddyfox.com/milano_hybrid_2008.html)

what do you guys think these bikes and would they be suitable for what i would need? if not can anyone reccomend anything better in that price range or cheaper maybe?

The road bike won't be very good to ride with luggage. The hybrid would be better, but to be honest neither is as good as a touring bike.

£400 will get you quite a nice touring bike secondhand, and it will be in a different league to anything you'll find new at the same price. Put an ad up here, or join your local cycling club and ask around.

Looking at the gearing they are quite high geared (52-42 Double Chainrings) you may want to consider a compact or a tripple if your terrain is undulating.
I don't think the high gears would be suitable for touring in Europe.
