is there something similar to Parkers Guide only for used bike prices?

how does anyone value a secondhand bike? is there a guide or web site that will tell you the value when new and an appox value used?
is it just a guessing game for both seller and buyer.

eBay completed sales might give an indication

Ask on here. But expect to get less than you think!

eBay prices, as vickster said. Not meaning to sound sarcastic, put a bike on gumtree for £300 and get no buyers.
Put same bike on eBay for 2 weeks with no reserve, the price you get is the value of the bike.
It's nuts, I've put bog standard old gas pipe racer on and had a bidding war and got 5 times my estimation of the value, had really nice quality bikes on and nearly been in tears when bidding ends!
I've bought a bike, advertised for weeks on gumtree for £40, done practically nothing to it, sold on eBay for £160 two weeks later! All part of the fun.

thats my problem sometimes i have sold bikes and ended up nearly in tears only getting a small fraction of what i belived its worth, usually bought by a local dealer who then advertises the same bike for 4 times what i sold it for?

sometimes i would like to know the price that say a bike from the 90s what it cost when new, lots of imfo on the internet about cars and motorbikes but cycles not a lot.

The problem is that you can classify cars easier. Year, make, model, mileage, condition etc.
How do you do that for bikes? They are different sizes, will have had new components. You can get a good idea of used bike components from eBay, the completed listings will give you a good guide, but older bikes are worth what you can get.
Advertise it for what you honestly believe the value to be and wait. It's very subjective. I really like old Raleigh Clubman bikes, I would probably pay more for one in the right size than you would. But, what's its real value?
Sorry to be of no help whatsoever!
