Is there a better value flat bar road bike than this?

It is now, but presume I could pay £99 in cash. It was £999 last year and they said 10% would be added to cover their admin costs- not sure if they all do that. Would shop around.
Not all retailers will allow overpayment, as you say, shop around. Where are you based?

Thanks all for your replies. I thought I might struggle to improve on this.
I just felt maybe it wouldn't feel like getting a new bike by just replacing it with the same :smile:
I do like the subtle orange detailing ( wheel nuts & stem face plate) and the newer one has orange hubs too which look great. It now has internal cabling and thinner seat stays which supposedly make for an even comfier ride.

I would get another Montpellier in a heartbeat if it was the same spec as the 2014 model I currently have but alas as I said in my earlier post, they're messed about with it and put a 1 x 11 drive train on it....boooooo...

Have you looked at the Pinnacle Neons? if it was me I wouldnt be spending over a grand on a flat bar hybrid.

Don't get that, my Whyte Montpellier full carbon flat bar has a comparable frame to the full carbon specialized roubaix I also have. It is pretty much a relaxed geometry road bike with flat and narrow bars. It is the most comfortable bike I have ever ridden, oh, and it shifts too. It is far superior to many of the drop bar bikes who's riders refuse to acknowledge me and some of those will behave this way because of the flat bars. I am not worthy of a hello.

I don't get that either- so you'd pay over a grand on a drop bar bike, but not a flat bar? Where's the logic in that?
I use it mainly for a short commute to work and prefer the more upright position for riding. It's light and nippy and puts a smile on my face every time I ride it.

I hate that snobby outlook that some cyclists have. I just think to myself I'm glad I'm not your mate.

If you just need it for that purpose then whats the point of spending all that ?
I said mainly for work, but still use it at weekends too. My first bike was a Corratec X Vert Cross which is heavy and sluggish compared to the Whyte. Would rather spend more and get a great bike than an ok one.

Its not on the class as the Whyte granted but the question posed was to do with VFM. If you want to change the question fine but considering you can get a quality flat bar bike and stick over £500 in your back pocket it takes some beating.
